One of our own headed to the Brier!

Andy McCann of Fredericton Junction has had a long and successful career in the sport of curling. 

He started his curling career in the Junior Program at the Gladstone Curling Club in Fredericton Junction.   While at the junior level, Andy won the U16 Provincial Championships, the Junior Mixed Provincial Championships and also earned the right to represented New Brunswick at the 1999 Canada Games in Newfoundland.

Andy has represented the Province of NB in many Briers over the past years.  His Brier appearances include:

  • 2008 Fifth/Alternate for Team Grattan in Winnipeg, MB
  • 2012 played Third Stone for Team Ottishaw in Saskatoon, SK
  • 2014 Fifth/Alternate for Team Grattan in Kamloops, BC
  • 2018 played Second Stone for Team Grattan in Regina, SK
  • 2020 played Second Stone for Team Grattan in Kingston, ON
  • 2021 played Second Stone for Team Grattan in Calgary, AB
  • 2022 played Lead Stone for Team Grattan in Lethbridge, AB
  • 2024 playing Lead Stone for Team Grattan in Regina, SK (March 2 – 10, 2024)

In addition to Andy’s many accomplishments in curling, he also been the President of the Gladstone Curling Club in Fredericton Junction for three years in a row.
