Horizon’s Oromocto Public Hospital Emergency Department temporarily closed
Friday, July 8
(OROMOCTO) Thursday, July 7 2022 – The Emergency Department (ED) at Horizon’s
Oromocto Public Hospital will be temporarily closed Friday, July 8, due to COVID-related
illnesses among staff.
The ED will close at 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 7 and reopen at 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 9. The ED
at the OPH is normally open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., daily.
All patients and clients requiring urgent medical care will need to seek treatment at other
hospitals and ambulances will be diverted to other hospitals.
As always, people experiencing a medical emergency should call 911. Additionally, people with
non-urgent medical needs can call Tele-Care 811 if they have any questions about the type of
medical attention they require, or book a virtual appointment through eVisitNB.
The OPH ED will reopen at 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2022.
Horizon apologizes for any inconvenience these temporary closures may cause. We are actively
working to recruit physicians and nurses to reduce temporary closures and resume services to
the communities we serve. Horizon remains committed to providing safe and quality care, and
the decision to temporarily close the ED is made to ensure safe care for our patients and clients
